Expanding Structures
In the past years Driessens & Verstappen have applied the process of cell division to pixels, which has resulted in infinite expanding structures
where the viewer can zoom into:
Ima Traveller (1996) begins with a single pixel that explodes by a continuous process of
cell-division. The new pixels define their colour by interaction with the surrounding pixels.
Deep Dive (2016) offers an endless zoom into a digital picture. The image refines itself according to
information that is extracted from the image concerned.
