Diemerzeedijk 2007, is a project for which the artists documented six locations around the Diemerzeedijk (a dike around the IJsselmeer near Amsterdam). Each film has a duration of nine mintes and covers exactly one year, from one January to the next. On a weekly basis, each scene was repeatedly photographed from the same position and at the same time of day, around noon. With custom developed software each series of shots was edited into fluid transitions. Slow transformations and changes in season, that are never directly perceptible in daily life, are perceptible on a sensory level. Not the individual images, but the transformation process itself is the origin of the aesthetic experience. This is in contrast to the classical landscape painting and photography, where a scene could only be displayed as a snapshot, often idealized and/or romanticized.

Diemerzeedijk 2007 is een project waarbij de kunstenaars zes verschillende locaties documenteerden rond de Diemerzeedijk (aan het IJsselmeer). Een film duurt negen minuten en omvat precies één jaar, van januari tot januari. Wekelijks werd iedere scene vanuit eenzelfde standpunt gefotografeerd, telkens op hetzelfde moment van de dag, rond het middaguur. Vervolgens zijn deze opnames met speciaal hiervoor ontwikkelde software in vloeiende overgangen gemonteerd. Trage veranderingen en seizoenswisselingen - die in het dagelijks leven nooit direct waarneembaar zijn - worden op zintuiglijk niveau ervaarbaar. Niet de afzonderlijke beelden, maar het transformatieproces zelf vormt de oorsprong voor de esthetische ervaring. Dit in tegenstelling tot de klassieke landschapsschilderkunst en -fotografie, waarbij een scene alleen kon worden weergegeven als momentopname, vaak geïdealiseerd en/of geromantiseerd.
