Video Mapping

In the past years Driessens & Verstappen have realised two artworks in which they use video mapping. For each work they developed specialized software, in which a building or pavilion is spatially mapped on the virtual program which mimics the real environment it is to be projected on. With this technique they create an optical illusion, notions of movement onto previously static objects: a contemporary "trompe l'oeil".

In 2005 they made Membrane, for the Pleinmuseum pavilion, and in 2014 Glow for 360° BRNDWR, in the tower of the former firehouse in Maastricht. In both works, the material of the projection surface (white fabric and window pane) served as a starting point for a virtual transformation process.
